St. Mary's Teachers Honored
Thursday, June 9, 2016
Several individuals were honored for their service to St. Mary's Schools at the school closing celebration Mass on Friday, June 3, 2016. Students and adults in attendance at the Mass were asked to keep these six people in their prayers as they experience new challenges in the coming year. All received lasered plaques made by Mr. Ahlers and the Industrial Arts students.
Pictured is School Board President, Deb Staab, presenting a plaque to Mr. Pete Haefs, Principal of Remsen St. Mary's for the past three years. Pete was thanked for his efforts in building up the curriculum and programs at St. Mary's during his three year stay. Best of luck to Mr. Haefs in his new position at Carroll Kuemper.
On behalf of the school, Mrs. Staab also honored several St. Mary's teachers that will be moving on to new positions. Pictured are Abby Fish who taught math at St. Mary's High School for the past two years; Jenna Bowmaster who taught Spanish in the high school and middle school for the past two years; Eric Hueschen who has been with St. Mary's for the past three years as Guidance counselor, JH football, high school football, golf, maintenance director, and transportation director; Mary Arens who has spent twenty-two years at St. Mary's, four years in the office and fourteen years teaching theology: and Nancy Zahourek who is retiring after teaching social studies in the middle school for thirty-four years. A student presented the teachers a plaque and the song, The Prayer, was performed in honor of those leaving St. Mary's.
