Remsen St. Mary's presented their seven through twelve concert band and choral concert on Wednesday, May 4. The concert began with prayer before the seventh grade choir performed "We Are Marching", and "Livin' on a Prayer". The eighth grade sang "Shout to the Lord", and "Humble and Kind". Mr. Jeremiah Garrigues-Cortelyou is the Choral Director. The seventh and eighth grade band played "Praeludium and Dance" as well as "A Hymn of Remembrance", and "Goober Peas". All band selections for the evening were introduced by a student who gave some history or specifics about the musical piece. Miss Steph Niewohner is the RSM Band Director. The high school choir sang "Amazing Grace" and "Rumor Has It". The high school band played a number of selections starting with "Linden Lea", "Ashford Celebration", and a "Pop Culture Suite" (wooing the Star Wars and Lady Gaga fans) including "Skyfall", "Imperial March" from "Chillers & Thrillers" and "Applause". The concert concluded with recognition of the senior band members, especially those students who were so helpful to a new band teacher. The last two selections played were "Forest Morning" and "Trombonanza", a piece that highlighted trombones.
