Tell me this doesn't look like a dinosaur.

Right now, I live in a zoo.

Not literally, but close. There are geese with goslings that look like baby dinosaurs just past my front yard. And their parents make more noises than a garbage disposal choking on the entire silverware drawer.

I've seen two baby bunnies in my yard -- they seriously look like gummy bears hopping around the yard.

I love spring.

So I was thinking to myself, "Everybody should see this."

Thus:

The top 10 things to do in Le Mars this summer if you haven't already:

10. Get some day-old bread and feed the ducks and geese at the Municipal Park.

9. Walk or bike some of the trails around Le Mars.

8. Go to the farmer's market.

7. Attend a trial at the Plymouth County courthouse. You'll learn a lot about our justice system.

6. Hear the Municipal Band play.

5. See and smell Frank Summerside's roses.

4. Eat a bloomin' onion at the Plymouth County Fair.

3. Learn to play the Wii or Dance, Dance Revolution at the public library.

2. Visit Norm Koch's apple orchard south of town.

1. And - this is Le Mars after all - try a new flavor of ice cream.

Magdalene Landegent Yes, I like hotdish and lakes. My idea of a fancy meal is a potluck. I don't call it "cold" until it's below zero outside. I pronounce one syllable words with three syllables. (Example: "No" is "Nooo-ah-uh") I am from Minnesota. But about nine years ago, I ventured across the border to come to Northwestern College. From there I landed in friendly Hawarden where I worked two years learning this newspaper business before rolling into Le Mars to work as reporter, then editor. I learn a lot of things while I'm trying to scoop out a story, but I learn even more when I'm off the beat -- and that's what you'll get a taste of in my blog. I tend to be a klutz, I admit to starting more than one fire on my stove, and I generally find myself to be the source of many an awkward moment. Add to that newly-married life, and I sometimes feel like a three ring circus. So gentle reader, enjoy. Advice is always welcome. Even from you, Mom and Dad.
