Did anyone else see the crazy falling star on Wednesday night?
I was driving into Le Mars from the north, and when I was about a mile out of town, I saw a giant blue-green falling star with some white flecks, which looked like it was headed straight for my little house. Quickly in my mind I tried to run through the list of things covered under renter's insurance. I don't recall "meteor shower blast" being listed... Luckily, it seemed to burn out before that - plus it was probably hundreds of miles away. What was that thing? Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Yes, I like hotdish and lakes. My idea of a fancy meal is a potluck. I don't call it "cold" until it's below zero outside. I pronounce one syllable words with three syllables. (Example: "No" is "Nooo-ah-uh")
I am from Minnesota.
But about nine years ago, I ventured across the border to come to Northwestern College. From there I landed in friendly Hawarden where I worked two years learning this newspaper business before rolling into Le Mars to work as reporter, then editor.
I learn a lot of things while I'm trying to scoop out a story, but I learn even more when I'm off the beat -- and that's what you'll get a taste of in my blog.
I tend to be a klutz, I admit to starting more than one fire on my stove, and I generally find myself to be the source of many an awkward moment. Add to that newly-married life, and I sometimes feel like a three ring circus.
So gentle reader, enjoy. Advice is always welcome. Even from you, Mom and Dad.

I saw the bright falling green light last night, too. It must have been far away because I live near Galesburg, Illinois, far from Le Mars. I googled "green light in sky" and came up with your post.
I guess it wasn't really headed for my house then. Maybe Panama?
I ACTUALLY SEEN IT LAND IN WISCONSIN, TWO LITTLE GREEN PERSONS CAME OUT WITH BRETT FARVE SAYING HE IS READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!
Oh thank you! You've put my mind at rest.
