It's Super Bowl SundayPosted Sunday, February 7, 2010, at 3:33 PM
We're working like crazy to get the paper done by five o'clock in order to watch the Great American Commercial Festival. I'm really looking forward to the "controversial" Tim Tebow ad that could dare to suggest that the pro-choice position has another side to its argument. In case you missed it, here's my column from a week ago on the subject: http://www.lemarssentinel.com/story/1606... Turns out the editorial board of none other than the New York Times wrote something similar: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/31/opinio... Moving on, check out the videos below. The first is from Thursday and Friday night basketball games:
The second is from Saturday's sectional wrestling tournaments:
Now on to the Stars of the past few days: 1. Austin Homan, Le Mars boys basketball Homan, a former starter who has been coming off the bench after suffering an ankle injury two weeks ago, scored 10 points and grabbed 16 boards as the No. 10 'Dogs knocked off Cherokee on Friday. 2. Chance Grady, Le Mars boys basketball Grady led the 'Dogs in scoring for the second straight game as he poured in 12 in the win. 3. Alex Frankl, A-W boys basketball Frankl narrowly missed a triple-double - a rare feet for a guard - as he scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had nine steals in the Westerners' win over Alcester-Hudson on Saturday. Be sure to check out our paper tomorrow for a full recap of wrestling action. |
Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa! ![]() - Archives - Blog RSS feed - Comments RSS feed - Login I am not a native Midwesterner, but I have now lived in Le Mars for a little more than a year and accumulated my share of Hawkeyes, Cyclones, Jays and Bulldogs clothing.
Prior to moving here, I had been to Iowa a half-dozen times to see my relatives in Hull, so naturally I assumed everyone in Iowa was Dutch and Christian Reformed. I certainly never thought I would live here.
I am a native of Mount Vernon, Wash., the hometown of NBA/MLB journeyman Mark Hendrickson, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick (a high school teammate), actor Jim Caviezel, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and most notably, Glenn Beck.
Here you'll find (almost) daily updates, photos and ruminations about the sports scene in Plymouth County.
