Feigned "Birther" outrage

Posted Monday, August 27, 2012, at 9:45 AM

From the 8-24-2012 New York Daily News -- "Mitt Romney outraged the Obama's campaign........"

President Obama threw a hissy fit when Mitt Romney said, --(CNN) "No one's ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that I was born and raised." "With that comment to a crowd in Michigan, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney officially embraced the "birther" movement and touched off a firestorm of protest across the airwaves and internet."

From The Huffington Post -- "The Obama campaign quickly responded, with spokesman Ben LaBolt saying that Romney was embracing the most extreme elements in the conservative movement. "

"Throughout this campaign, Governor Romney has embraced the most strident voices in his party instead of standing up to them," he said. "It's one thing to give the stage in Tampa to Donald Trump, Sheriff Arpaio, and Kris Kobach. But Governor Romney's decision to directly enlist himself in the birther movement should give pause to any rational voter across America."

.........................

I have searched dozens of websites carrying such stories but have yet to find any mentioning the following:

At (STORE.BARAKOBAMA.COM), anyone with a mere $22 can purchase a nice white mug with the President Obama's picture on one side and his birth certificate on the other. (SKU OFA0805)

This is his official 'webstore.'

An explanation on the official site says "There's really no way to make the conspiracy about President Obama's birth certificate completely go away, so we might as well laugh at it -- and make sure as many people as possible are in on the joke. Get your Obama birth certificate Made in the USA mug today."

So much for the feigned outrage!

Putting aside the saga of Obama having to prove and prove and prove where he was born.........

I find it hard to understand why some nations are so protective of whom can hold office whether it is at Presidential, State, or local government level. Even being a federal or state employee. If being born in a country is all it takes to be a perfect citizen, why does the country spend so much time making laws to control those born in their fair country and why are their prisons so full of their own?

I've lived for extended periods in three countries. New Zealand, USA and Australia. I've seen patriotic citizens stand with hand on heart, tears in eyes, watching the flag as the national anthem is played. Yet I know these same people do everything they can to avoid taxes, trash highways, flout drug and alcohol laws and generally look for what they can get out of the system rather than what they can input. I think JFK had a famous quote covering this.

Yet these citizens have a foot in the door when it comes to certain privileges not available to those who have made the country their home and work hard to make the most of their opportunities and lets face it, all three nations I've lived in we're built by immigrants.

Big Arnie could do It at State level in California but never at Federal level, Henry Kissinger, one of the best Secretaries of State could never run for President but American born Richard Nixon whom he served, could and look what he did!!!

So, just being born in a country shouldn't necessarily be a foot in the door for certain positions at any level. The US, Australian and New Zealand Armed Forces have many personnel born outside the country they are serving, they are willing to die for for that nation but still, they are classed as second class citizens. Let the people decide who is best for the job, not some theory that your place of birth makes you more suitable than another.

Mr. Romney was correct. No one has asked him about his birth.

I often wonder why Obama never corrected any of his schools or the local papers in Illinois when they stated he was born in Kenya.

Personally his place of birth is OBE and irrelevant.
