Somebody else didn'tPosted Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 3:28 PM
"If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own, there was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." (President Obama, July 13)
No, no, no, Mr. President! "Somebody else" did not "make that happen!" Look at all of the Fred Wells, Jack Harker's, Orville Schuster's, Tim and Bonnie's, the Derek Langel's, -- they started with a 'dream-n-a gleam' (and not a lot more) and made it happen with hard work, guts, and ingenuity. They, and everyone else who started small have been insulted by Obama's statement. They hired people, and grew their businesses while paying the taxes that built the roads, etc. Now Obama is running commercials trying to rationalize, but he should be apologizing! Of course it goes without saying that business cannot exist without roads, bridges and other infrastructure. Here is the nitty-gritty -- Mr. President, please explain why the many people who had that same teacher, drove those same roads, are now on food stamps (or worse), and haven't built one damn thing! |
