A Quiz For You

Posted Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 8:03 PM

I took an internet quiz today, entitled "Do you know more about the political parties than the average American?"

I did quite well. But then, I should have, since it was on politics. The reason I am writing is to suggest you take a look at it, at info@pewresearch.org. I know Midwesterners will do better than the average male (8.4 of the 13 questions), female (7.5), or even college graduates at 9.9 of the 13 questions.

Obviously not a scientific barometer, but I would think that the participants would generally be more knowledgeable about politics, hence history, than John or Jane off the street. Yet, for example, only 53% knew which party is most interested in reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government. Sad, but they vote!

Only 55% knew that Lincoln was a Republican and 58% that FDR was a "D."

As would be expected, the older the participant, the higher the score. Let us know how you did!
