While the pink slime pot boils nationally, on the local level, have you heard about the boycott efforts by a loose knit coalition of several Le Mars Realtors, Electricians and Ministers? They are urging local restaurants to stop serving lamb, and asking grocery stores to stop selling the product! Concerned citizens have been encouraged to join them in front of Le Mars grocers tomorrow at noon, a spokesman says.
"This day, Palm Sunday, seems a very opportune time to call for an end forever of encouraging people to dine on the meat of such a Symbol of Peace, the Lamb. It was only a year ago that the Iowa Legislature allowed the hunting of another Symbol of Peace, the Mourning Dove. If responsible citizens who care for the future of the animal kingdom do not step up and end this attack on peaceful figureheads such as the Lamb and the Dove, no one can predict where it will end," said the REAM (Realtors Electricians and Ministers) group.
"Lamb is not only tasty, it is a healthy meat," culinary expert Tom Rasmussen, who strained at La Cordon Blue, in Holstein, has been quoted as saying, "first it was LFTB (lean finely textured beef), and now lamb? What will REAM, PETA and such try to ban next? Corn on the cob? Commie pinko creeps, that what these people are!" Local sheep herdsman Alan Stitzmann expressed grave concern not only for the mutton market, but expressed concern for what the Obama administration is doing about this. However, local Democrat officials issued a press release: "What, you think you can pull the wool over our eyes?!" Not endorsed by: Certified grassfed Lamb, available at ww.minnesotaharvestfarm.cam.
