Can we talk?

Whatever happened to the constructive conversation?

I have noticed lately that everyone wants their opinion and their thoughts to be everyone else's and they want their way to be everyone's way, but most (locally) won't attach their name to anything even remotely controversial?

I like nothing more than the back and forth banter of both sides of a situation. I suppose that is why I spent time in debate in high school.

Anymore, I hate to even hear the talk show hosts. I understand they are speaking for their side of the stories, but they all have their version of the story also. I also am a huge skeptic when it comes to watching network news on any of the popular news/tv channels.

It seems we never hear both sides of the story anymore. We hear what that particular network is wanting us to know and believe.

I am tired of it all the way around.

I want to hear what you have to say about a topic. But I want it to start with the facts and let me have my opinion and you can have yours.

Don't tell me what you want me to hear. Give me the facts.

Angel out...

I have come to believe that just getting the facts out has become difficult in society without getting opinions intermixed. Sometimes it seams like it needs to be sterile scientific information out front, then the colorful entertaining banter can happpen. I listen to so many different views on a daily basis and really enjoy a good conversation, even if i only get to hear it. I decided not to watch much TV anymore because of the advertising and hype. I have come to really enjoy the informational programs of PBS, NPR and the CBC on sirius satelite radio. I don't like it when my favorite programs (call them addictions if you want) get removed due to lack of funding or whatever.

I have come to a new idea for myself, try to make all opinions offered to me with a response of respect and a higher view before offering my own opnion. The higher view may sometimes shed a different light, doesn't always favor my own opnion, but helps get the facts out there first. In school we were trained to put the facts into our responses and opinions, keeping it compact and efficient. I agreee, time to put out the facts first, then offer opinions or solutions after.

When reading your post, one show comes to mind: THE VIEW. They should re-name it OUR VIEW AND OUR VIEW ONLY.

My name is Angel. I have come here to help you maneuver the website and introduce you to any new features we will have for you. Once in awhile I will blog about a topic or two or let you into my world. I don't have any children, but I do have nieces and nephews I can brag about. I rarely do anything exciting but work. BUT for those of you who have worked with me you know a day of work can be like a trip to the carnival! Angel out...
