We all need to get out and volunteer when we can...
Posted Tuesday, October 20, at 10:40 AM
I was recently at Floyd Valley Hospital for an MRI. When I walked in the door there was a greeter that helped me get pointed in the right direction to the registry counters.

This volunteer I have known for years. I remembered him as working for Vern Anderson and also contributing a lot of work and time to the American Cancer Society I especially remember him being the honorary chair for the Relay For Life. He is a cancer survivor and fights hard for the cause.

This volunteer's name is Le Roy Schrunk, and his wife, also a volunteer, is Sally. Two very wonderful people.

Sally is down-to-earth and giving. She was always so easy for me to talk to. She is also a very dedicated hospital volunteer.

It takes people like this to teach and bind a community together.

I would just like to take this chance to commend both of them for being wonderful. Taking time to give time to the hospital, their church, Park Place and also in donating blood.

Thanks Le Roy and Sally!

An email from my mom
Posted Wednesday, October 7, at 12:56 PM

My mother, the one who taught me to have a backbone, bless her heart, sent this to me earlier this week and it made a lot of sense. I was born in the 70s. These things were true, YES I did taste my mudpies. Withe everything going on today, I thought I would share this for a laugh and to give you a chance to ponder it...

Plymouth County Teachers
Posted Wednesday, September 9, at 4:07 PM

If you went to school in Plymouth County, who was your favorite teacher? What is your favorite memory? This is my 'On The Street' question this week. Thank you to those who have already started to share your memories. This is long, I know I usually keep it short and sweet, but.....

A memory
Posted Sunday, May 17, at 3:17 PM

A trip down memory lane can put a smile on your face, a tear in your eye or even bring your blood to a boil. This memory is one that makes me smile and be thankful for the little things. I had a great childhood, I love remembering the countless miles and trips across country with Dad across country. I learned about the country and my ABC's the real way...

Only child traits
Posted Tuesday, March 31, at 1:54 PM

For the majority of my life I was raised alone. I am my father's only biological child. I do have three siblings. That is all I will say on that so as not to anger any one relative who doesn't want to be talked about. I spent a lot of independent time learning and of course entertaining myself while I was growing up...

Can we talk?
Posted Wednesday, March 25, at 10:09 AM

Whatever happened to the constructive conversation? I have noticed lately that everyone wants their opinion and their thoughts to be everyone else's and they want their way to be everyone's way, but most (locally) won't attach their name to anything even remotely controversial?...

Loving them
Posted Tuesday, March 10, at 2:53 PM

I always attack big projects, take on things I have no idea how to do, but then I am resourceful enough to make it come together in the end. But this time I didn't have an answer or solution. Life just seems to get even more complicated. As a result of being in a relationship with someone who has an elderly parent, I think I am being put to a new kind of challenge...

'Octo Mom'
Posted Thursday, February 19, at 1:18 PM

...as she was referred to on Dateline Tuesday night When driving to work in the wee hours on January 26, I heard the top of the hour news brief state that a woman who wanted to remain nameless in California had given birth to octuplets. The woman turned out to be 33-year-old Nadya Suleman...

MOVIES!
Posted Wednesday, February 11, at 3:43 PM

I am looking for a new blogger... Let's see if you fit the description. Do you make it a point to get to every new movie release? Do you remember the characters, their identities and spirit? Do you also sit through the low-budget losers also, wondering how and why you were allowed to invest your hard earned money into this awful production?...

Poetry revisited
Posted Wednesday, January 21, at 1:31 PM

I seem to be visiting my past more lately. I think this is how we grow as people. I have been looking back on the sayings my mom has said for years, the time capsule at school and the many unfinished sketchings strewn about in the boxes that sit still packed from last year's move...

My name is Angel. I have come here to help you maneuver the website and introduce you to any new features we will have for you. Once in awhile I will blog about a topic or two or let you into my world. I don't have any children, but I do have nieces and nephews I can brag about. I rarely do anything exciting but work. BUT for those of you who have worked with me you know a day of work can be like a trip to the carnival! Angel out...
