A mocha delight

Mocha tried to write the blog for me, but her paws couldn't quite hit the right keys!

While I am no doubt a sports enthusiast, I also have quite the feminine side. Ask Jesse or any of my other co-workers.

Today, I embraced my maternal instincts - if indeed every woman has them - and took my precious new kitten to the vet for the first time.

Mocha - yes, like the coffee - was clearly frightened, but I was equally so. In the four days since I brought her home from the farm outside of Remsen, I have fallen in love with this little furball. I can't believe how much I can love an animal!

She has a fantastic personality and follows me all around the house all day. It's crazy to have someone need you so much.

But I digress.

Dr. Conley gave Mocha some worm medicine, treated her for ear mites and gave her one shot. She was so good for the whole thing. I felt terrible taking her out in the frigid cold, but she's home now and doing wonderfully.

What a tough life housecats lead. When Mocha's not following me around, demanding attention and love, she is content just lounging in my bed on a huge fleece blanket. Must be rough.

Speaking of rough, it's about time to brave the cold again and head out into the world. Stay warm and pray the snow stays away!

If I'm not mistaken, isn't your cat on Facebook? If so, have it add me a friend.

I'm a firm believer in the line "those who can't do, teach" - except that I don't teach, I write. I was never an athlete and I have the coordination of a one-year-old, but my passion for the game - any game really - is what drives me most. I was born in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisc., which is probably why I am a Packer fan. And I'm not one of those fans who likes the Packers when they are good and cheers for other teams from week to week or season to season. No, I am a die-hard - I bleed green and gold and I think the Cheesehead is one of the more stylish head-wear pieces ever created. After six years in Wisconsin, my family moved to Pella - where I consider to be my hometown. I went to Pella Christian High School - where I loved watching the sports! - and developed my love for photography and design. A side note - my sister (and one of my best friends) plays volleyball at Pella Christian, thus the occasional references to Eagles volleyball in my musings. I graduated with a degree in business and journalism from Northwestern College in Orange City in December 2007. I enjoy keeping tabs on my alma mater and the first teams I ever covered as a journalist. My brother plays football for the Raiders, so that adds even more incentive to continue bleeding red. Even though I am a sports-enthusiast of a seemingly male nature, I am also 100 percent girly-girl. I love shoes, purses and anything pink. Thus the blog title "Packer Pink and What I Think." I am quite the random person so I may vary from topic to topic, but at the end of the day, I'm pretty much just sports and pink.
