So weird to see my favorite star in a different green...Brett the Jet practicing with his new club.

A new era kicked off in Green Bay last night with the Packers' preseason debut.

Just to be sure that no one missed it, the "practice game" - as my grandma so naively calls it - was a nationally broadcasted contest on ESPN's Monday Night Football.

Aaron Rodgers' debut as the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers in the Post-Favre Era was widely displayed for all to see.

Granted, since my job requires me to work evenings, I did not actually see Rodgers in action. But I had the play-by-play going on my cell phone as I was at the Sportsman's Club for trapshooting league awards pictures. But from what I can tell, Rodgers did fine. Nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible either...and he did it all without getting injured!

So I am trying my hardest to give this new look to my favorite team a chance. Who knows, before the season is over, I might be adding an Aaron Rodgers (or maybe Brian Brohm...???) jersey to my collection.

Another jersey I can't help but want is Brett the Jet. Since the Packers don't play the Jets and aren't in much competition with the AFC squad, I can figure out a way to be a Packers fan AND a Favre fan at the same time. So I think that means I can get a Jets jersey. Although I have to admit, it is still weird to see the quarterback I grew up watching on a weekly basis for the past 16 years wear a different green, I will adjust to the change, as all adults must at some point in their early grown up lives.

So, Welcome to Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood, Cheesehead Nation. I'm ready to find something positive in this whole catastrophy, and I'm hoping Mr. Rodgers can do just that.

And as for Brett the Jet, I wish him all the best and hope that his legendary career continues to be just that...legendary.

That's all for me...until the next game.
