Once upon a time...

Today I thought I would challenge myself as a writer and I came up with a little story I'd like to share.
Once upon a time in a land filled with cheese lived a mighty nation known as the Cheeseheads. These simply, friendly people - clad in green and gold - were dairy farmers, meat packers and the like. They worked hard and on Sundays, they enjoyed drinking beer and watching football. All was peaceful in the land of cheese each year because the Leader of Cheesehead Nation continued to deliver winning football seasons filled with touchdown passes, broken records and thrilling come-from-behind victories. The only time trouble Cheesehead Nation faced was an attack from either the bears in the south or the vikings to the west. Yes, Cheesehead Nation was a happy place and people loved to live there. But one frigid winter day, the Leader decided his time had come to an end and chose to move to a warmer land of southern drawls. A period of great mourning began in Cheesehead Nation as the green and gold began looking for a new leader. And they found one, although he did not have any experience like the previous Leader and he was often succomb to injury. But Cheesehead Nation moved on to this new leader. Until one day, the Leader asked if he could come back. Turns out the land of southern drawls wasn't nearly as appealing as Cheesehead Nation. But the Boss of the Green and Gold did not want the Leader back. He was partial to the new leader, despite the new leader's lack of any experience in the game of football. Why would the Boss of the Green and Gold want to welcome back the Leader with open arms when he could start down a new road? So the Boss tried to get rid of the Leader. He paid him to stay in the land of southern drawls, but the Leader wouldn't have it and he showed up in Cheesehead Nation ready to play football. A great uprising occurred in Cheesehead Nation, for the green and gold people were not pleased with the Boss's actions. They loved the Leader and thought nothing would be better than to have him back. Cheesehead Nation divided and was no longer a place of peace and harmony, where beer and football flowed. Instead, Cheesehead Nation began to resemble a vicious land of looting and rioting, similiar to the land of the vikings to the west. With green and gold people battling against the Boss and his constituents, what will become of the new leader? But more importantly, what will become of The Leader? The one who led the Cheeseheads to so many victories? The one who just a few months ago had the green and gold team within one pass of the Big Dance?
Sadly, this story is not finished. How will it all play out? I guess we will just have to wait and see. |
