Someone told me recently that I haven't had very good luck since coming to Le Mars.
They would be right as far as physical health is concerned.
A few weeks ago I went to the chiropractor because my neck hurt, and after X-rays it was determined I had five pinched nerves in my neck and back. Yes, that's right, FIVE.
So that meant chiropractor visits three times a week to start with, then two, etc. I wasn't liking it, but was dealing.
Then last week I somehow caused a muscle spasm in my lower back and hip area. I have no idea, but I have never felt such pain.
And of course it had to happen on my way back to work. A colleague of mine was happy to deliver me to the chiropractor's office in severe pain.
It took a couple days, but I was back to normal.
Tired of my unfortunate mishaps, I decided to spend Halloween weekend with my family in SD.
If I had known what was going to happen there ahead of time, I would have stayed put.
My weekends started well. I was able to see my 2-year-old nephew Jacob dressed up as Batman for Halloween when he came to trick-or-treat "Grandma and Grandpa." He was so cute, and since he's talking now, he mimics everything we say.
Then Saturday morning Mom made me pancakes for breakfast, don't we always revert back to childhood when at the parents house.
We spent the rest of Saturday shopping and bought some Christmas and birthday presents along with some new clothes. All in all a satisfying day.
But then night came... and that's when it all fell apart, literally.
My parents live in this old farm house with four spare rooms up these steep flight of stairs. (Can you see the outcome already?) The stairs are covered in old, worn, green carpeting that can be slippery.
So I had to get up in the middle of the night, come downstairs to the bathroom, and that's when it happened... I fell down the last three or four steps, smacked my knee on the wall, my elbow scraped the floor and landed in a pile.
People kept asking me how did you fall? I don't know I just remember the end result!
My parents didn't wake up and I didn't want to call them. So I laid there for a bit getting my bearings and checking to see if any bones were broken. Thankfully they were not.
But my knee was and is still painful from its run-in with the wall because all of my skin is probably still stuck to that wall.
Mom and Dad had to drive me back to Le Mars Sunday because I couldn't operate a vehicle with the bad knee. On Monday, I had the knee checked out, after that same colleague took me back to the chiropractor.
So if you happen to see me limping down the street, that's the reason.
Please slow down because I don't know if I could handle more accidents.
The new year is almost upon us so it can't get much worse, right? I'm going to believe that.

Hahaha, oh Amy, I feel for you. I fell down ten cement stairs at college just last week because my shoes were wet. 6 stairs slid down, 4 stairs tumbled down. I got a pretty good swollen ankle. Just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one! Love reading your blog. Have a GRRRREAT DAY!
