Hockey and Babies

Moving to Le Mars nearly seven months ago has meant a lot of "firsts" for me. Some good, some not so good, but all part of the job and community.
On Saturday I attended my first-ever live hockey game in Sioux City with a friend. Go Muskies!
Unfortunately they lost, but WOW! do people get into the sport even in the pre-season.
I took it all in. I wonder how those hockey players keep getting rammed into the walls and shoved around and come back for more.
It was a great experience!
I could easily become a hockey fan, not just because of the fights although those were entertaining, or the fans booing the referees, but because of the fast-paced action.
After seeing that, watching football Sunday was a little less action-packed. Although I will always be a NFL fan first, my experience watching hockey will be hard to top.
Sadly the Denver Broncos lost to the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday. Can you believe the Broncos 3-0 lost to a 0-3 team!
I'm sure my former roommate and a Chiefs' fan will find a way to rub that in my face.
But I digress. I hope to see more hockey games in my future!
One more totally non-related subject. I'm going to be an aunt twice over, and my sisters-in-law's babies are due March 1 and March 9. How weird is that?
Even with new babies on the way my first nephew and Godson Jacob will always hold a special spot.
