Little House on the Prairie

Some of you may remember watching "Little House on the Prairie" the television show as a child.

Or maybe you have the collection of books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I'm not ashamed to say I do and that occassionally I will go back and read them especially the original set.

Last weekend I went to Minneapolis and took in the "Little House On The Prairie" musical at the Guthrie Theatre. It was worth the $25 rush ticket fee more of which are available according to the theater's website.

Melissa Gilbert, who you may remember played Laura on the television show, is all grown up and playing Caroline in the musical. The music, dancing and script in the play takes me back in time.

I always wanted to be like Laura and the Ingalls family as a child. There was just something about the love they shared and Laura's escapades that intrigued me.

Now don't get me wrong my family members love one another, but we've never been overly demonstrative like the Ingalls family portrayed. Didn't you ever wonder how the characters could be so together pretty much all the time?

The television show did have a good cast, especially Michael Landon who many remember really was likeable in that he acted in his personal life much the same as his television persona.

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, pack your bags and head to Minneapolis for the show. I guarantee if you loved the books and the television series, you will appreciate the musical.

Enjoy 2.5 hours with Charles, Caroline, Carrie and Laura and go back in time when you may have raced home from school to turn on the television.

Wow!! I bet that was so great to see Melissa Gilbert on stage!! I still watch "Little House" everyday! Maybe we should swap books like we did in the "good old days!" P.S. LOVE your blogs, ACE!

So punctuation doesn't matter anymore? Ok, well, Half-Pint does, so let's just let it slide this time...

I'd so love to see the Little House musical, it's just too far from me. I hope it tours. Are the Oleson's in the musical version? I'd love to see the actress Allison Balson who played Nancy Oleson in the musical because she's a wonderful singer.
